ABOUT BRISTOL DISTANCE PROJECT
Founded in 2018 by our current Endurance Lead Benedict Westhenry, the group has grown in size with the depth and quality of performances improving significantly. The group takes pride in helping athletes’ of all abilities improve and reach their performance aspirations. As a result, we aim to create an inclusive competitive environment that enables athletes to reach their potential. We have a number of high level endurance performance athletes competing at National level and some close to making the step up to international level. Our setup has a track record of helping athletes who commit to the project improve significantly. Our main performance sessions take place on a Tuesday evening and Saturday mornings. These sessions vary between interval, threshold and tempo sessions. The training plan is tweaked for individual athletes depending on their needs. The focus of the remaining days in the week are recovering between sessions through easy runs with the group or independently. Again weekly mileage and the number of running days within the week is tweaked on an individual basis. Athletes also have the the option of core and strength and conditioning programs.
